My Style

Having your photo taken can be a pretty intimate experience, even with all your clothes on. Believe me, I've met every camera-shy bride and groom in the Chicagoland area.  I've calmed their nerves, made them laugh, and captured amazing moments both natural and directed.  One thing that really struck me when I transitioned into boudoir photography is that the women who came to me were almost more open and comfortable much quicker than my average bridal client. I don't know if that's a commentary on how pressured we feel as brides to fit a certain mold, or a comment on how putting yourself in a vulnerable position reall does make you stronger.  Maybe both!

My style is timeless and elegant. It plays artfully with light and shadow. And it focuses on what makes you who you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

I've never done anything like this before. Can I actually do this?

The short answer here is yes! The women featured on my site are not professional models, and many of them asked the same question prior to their shoot. I can relate! Our relationships with our bodies are often complicated, and maybe we don't always see ourselves in the best light.  Luckily seeing the best light is kind of my specialty. I'll guide you through the whole process with personalized posing and direction, and you will be thrilled with the results. Clients who book their shoots will receive a full instructional PDF of helpful tips on everything from wardrobe and makeup, to location inspiration and 'what to bring.'

What is the difference between boudoir, beauty, and adventure?

Boudoir, Beauty, and Adventure...what is the difference, and what do I choose? When starting this new venture, I wanted to offer my clients a shoot that made them feel like a magical and powerful goddess. And surely that means something different to everyone.  Traditional boudoir is pretty self-explanatory, and beauty sessions have a similar message.  Maybe you'd like to be photographed in a flowing gown or a sharp blazer. Your shoot should show off your best self.  Whether it's lingerie, a goddess dress, or nothing at all.  Adventure sessions are my new pet project, and I'm so excited to offer them! Do you want to get outside and photograph in nature? Shoot in a unique destination together?  The sky is the limit, and I'm dying to hear what adventure suits you best.

Do you have a studio?

Currently I prefer to photograph in rented (or borrowed) spaces. While I've thought about renting a studio in the past, I came to the conclusion that I want all of my work to look a bit different and organic. I don't want to run through the same five poses in the same five corners of the same room. When a client books with me, location is one of the first things we discuss. I'm happy to recommend places that have worked well in the past from a Parisian-styled apartment in Lincoln Park to an industrial loft space in West Town.

Can I bring my husband, boyfriend, wife, sister, best friend to our session?

I actually have gotten this question a lot! I totally understand why, but the answer is no, and I'm happy to explain. I need to bond with my subjects, hear what makes them tick, and create a space for them to let go. My best advice is to put your trust in me for the best shoot, and then share the final (amazing!) pics with whoever you want!
